Joseph F. Doran, Sr., 72, of Port Carbon, formerly of Branchdale, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Schuylkill – East after a brief illness.
Born on January 21, 1951, in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Francis “Fritz” Doran and the late Virginia “Jean” (need Calderone) Doran. He attended Minersville schools and was a 1970 graduate of Nativity B.V.M. High School. He was an Army Reserve veteran. He worked at Fort Indiantown Gap in heavy vehicle maintenance; and later worked as house painter.
He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Church, Saint Clair. He was also a life member of the Citizen’s Fire Company of Branchdale. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Joe is survived by his wife of 42 years, the former Debbie Barnes; two children, Joseph Doran, Jr. (spouse, Jennifer), Middletown, and Nicole Doran (boyfriend, Dan Vidal), Port Carbon; two grandsons, Jack and Luke Doran. He is also survived by three siblings, Ellen Doran, Edward Doran and Patrick Doran, all of Branchdale; five nieces and five nephews.
