Jeanne M. Zakrewski, RN, 86, of Ringtown, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.
Jeanne was born in Ringtown, on July 10, 1936, a daughter of the late Charles and Alice (Yavorsky) Yurkonis, Sr..
A caring and kind person, Jeanne was a registered nurse, having worked as the plant nurse for the former Purolator Products in Ringtown, then later working as a nurse for the state prison in Frackville, until her retirement. Her loving nature was evident in her rescued pets, from her cats and dogs to donkeys.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, John Zakrewski in 2010, a brother, Charles Yurkonis, Jr., and a sister, Lillian Chuplis. She is survived by a brother, Robert Yurkonis, along with nieces and nephews, including Cheryl, wife of John Hood and Mark Chuplis. Great nieces and nephews survive, including Logan and Ava Hood.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, North Center Street, Ringtown on at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 17th, 2023. Visitation with Jeanne’s family will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the mass. Jeanne will be laid to rest alongside her husband at St. Mary’s Cemetery, immediately following the Mass.
The Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, Ringtown is assisting Jeanne’s family during their time of need.
