Barbara J. Arnold, 90 – Visited All 50 States and 20 Countries

Barbara J. Arnold, 90, of Pottsville, passed away Wednesday, June 14th, at Providence Place Retirement Community, Pottsville.

Born in St. Petersburg, FL on March 3, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Sadie (Worrell) and Hinman Willie Manuel.

Barbara was the widow of Chester A. Arnold, Sr. to whom she was married to 65 years.

After graduating from St. Petersburg High School, Barbara received her nursing degree from Mound Park Nursing School.

Barbara was employed as a Registered Nurse for 30 years and worked for the American Red Cross for 20 years.

She was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church of Pottsville. She was active in the many Churches she had belonged to.

Barbara was an avid gardener who also enjoyed traveling. She and her husband visited all 50 states as well as over 20 countries. She played and taught bridge.

A wonderful mother, Barbara is survived by sons, Chester A. Arnold Jr. (Michelle), Pensacola, Fla., and Stephen C. Arnold (Mary), Virginia Beach; daughters, Laura Field (Steve), Orwigsburg, and Cynthia Lynne Arnold, Reading; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara is preceded in death by her sister, Beatrice Wheeler.

A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 23rd at Ebling Stabingas Funeral Home, Cressona with Pastor John Wallace officiating. A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

Interment will be held privately at the family’s convenience.

At the family’s request, memorial donations may be forwarded to the American Red Cross, PO Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839.
