Schuylkill County Commissioners will consider a large budget adjustment at their regular meeting on Wednesday, June 14.
Additionally, the Commissioners are going to be asked to approve a contract for a curb project in Orwigsburg.
These are the highlights of the meeting Agenda released Tuesday morning.
Budget Adjustment
As is typical of the Courthouse, the least amount of detail is given regarding a budget adjustment of $38,190 that will come before the Commissioners on Wednesday.
On the Agenda it’s simply listed as an adjustment in the Public Works department. Typically, County Finance Director Paul Buber will inform the Commissioners on the details of this budget adjustment just prior to the vote.
Of course, the Commissioners already know the nature of the budget adjustment. But this little show within the meeting is their way of being transparent, opaque as it is.
The last time a large-ish budget adjustment like this was brought before the Commissioners was the six-figure bailout for the Schuylkill County Airport Authority, which was neatly tucked in an Agenda as an adjustment in the County Contributions budget.

Orwigsburg Curb Project
Another item set to come before the Commissioners on Wednesday is an $85K+ contract to replace curbs in Orwigsburg to make them compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Commissioners plan to approve the contract to Heim Construction Co., Orwigsburg.
Courthouse Annex Project
The Commissioners will also be asked to approve a contract with Antz Energy Systems, Shenandoah, for work at the Courthouse Annex.
According to the Agenda for Wednesday, this project will “replace and install new roof leader lining and demolish and reinstall piping and drains” at the building.
The County says the $31,000 price tag is temporary and that “once the walls are opened up and actual conditions are verified,” the price of that work could go up.
