Mary Alice Brennan, 90 – Former Bell Telephone Operator

Mary Alice Brennan, 90, formerly a St. Clair and Pine Grove resident, died Friday June 2, 2023.

Born in Pottsville, June 3, 1932, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Lynch) Whalen.

She worked as a Bell Telephone operator, then proudly as a secretary for the St. Clair Area School District. Later in life she worked at the Schuylkill County Area of Aging, and as a floating secretary for District Justices of Schuylkill County. Mary Alice was a member of the Tremont Senior Citizens, former member of the Swatara Village Board of Directors and a life member of the St. Clair Lions Club.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence Eames, in 1972, her second husband, James A. Brennan, in 2005 and a son, James Brennan, in 2020.

Surviving are 2 sons, Lawrence Eames and his wife Teresa of North Cape May, NJ; James Eames, daughter Kimberly Eames and her husband Richard Burgett of Dauphin daughter-in-law Robin Brennan of Reading; brother Robert Whalen of St. Clair; 8 grandchildren: Brian, Joshua, and Rachel Eames; Owen, Caleb, and Lilly Hasenauer and step-grandchildren Danielle Miller and Andrew Burgett.

Mass of Christian Burial was be held Thursday June 8, 2023 at St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 250 E. Hancock St., St. Clair. The Rev. Msgr. William F. Glosser officiated.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Saint Clair Area School District and earmarked for STUDENT CAFETERIA DEBT. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
