Bridge Repair Will Close Part of Sweet Arrow Lake Road

Bridge repair over Swatara Creek begins Monday.

PennDOT announced several new road work projects in Schuylkill County starting from June 5. Travelers should anticipate disruptions and are advised to take note of the following schedules and details for their travel plans.

Sweet Arrow Lake Road/Paradise Road, Washington Township

Significant disruptions are expected in Washington Township, where PennDOT has slated a bridge repair project on Sweet Arrow Lake Road/Paradise Road between Turkey Farm Road and Meadow View Road.

Unlike the pothole patching project on Interstate 81 South, this project will cause a 24-hour road closure starting June 5, expected to continue until August 11. The bridge over Swatara Creek will be closed for repairs, but local access will be maintained up to the bridge.

Through traffic is encouraged to use the posted detour route or PA 443 as an alternate route. The progress of this project will not be impacted by rain, according to PennDOT.

Interstate 81 South, Delano and Kline Townships

Motorists in Delano and Kline Townships should brace for potential delays as PennDOT commences pothole patching on Interstate 81 South between Exit 138 (PA 309) and Exit 134 (Delano).

Work is scheduled to start on June 5 and is expected to last until June 8. Daytime lane restrictions will be in place from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Travelers are urged to exercise caution when driving through the work zone. Keep in mind that inclement weather conditions might cause delays in the planned roadwork.
