Pottsville native Travis Blankenhorn absolutely demolished his latest home run for the Triple-A Rochester Red Wings (Nationals) earlier this week.
The three-run homer in the bottom of the 9th inning tied the Red Wings game on Monday with his former team, the Syracuse Mets.
Blankenhorn’s blast pelted high up on some ad boards in right field and landed in the team’s bullpen, tying that game at 7-7.
It was Blankenhorn’s 7th homer on the season and 3rd in the month of May.

While his power numbers cooled just slightly in May, Blankenhorn has been more efficient at the plate.
He hit for a .275 average in May to raise his season average to .250. In addition to his 7 homers, he’s also got 22 RBI, 14 of which he drove in over the last month.
Blankenhorn ended May on a 3-game hit streak.
His Red Wings have turned things around on the season after really stumbling out of the gate in April. The team is one of the hottest in the International League, with a 7-3 record over its last 10 games, and winners of 4 straight.
Rochester is now 24-27 on the season and is in 7th place in the league’s East Division, but only 2 games out of 3rd.
