Travis Blankenhorn hit a pair of home runs in games with the Rochester Red Wings since last weekend.
In a game against the Buffalo Bisons (Blue Jays) on April 12, the Pottsville native smacked his second homer of the season, a two-run shot in the second inning, to pad his team’s lead.
For the night, Blankenhorn went 2-4 at the plate with a walk and a run scored. The Red Wings defeated the Bisons, 8-4, just the team’s second win of the year.
Two nights later, against the same Buffalo team, Blankenhorn hit his third home run of the season in the third inning.
The Red Wings went on to win that game, too, 6-3.
The night before, Blankenhorn ripped his third double of the season to plate a run for his team in a 9-8 win.
After taking a plunge below .200, Blankenhorn has gotten back on track at the plate for Rochester. He’s hit safely in 4 consecutive games coming into action this week.
Right now, Blankenhorn is hitting .220/3HR/9RBI and 7 of his 11 hits this season are for extra bases.
Looking at the week ahead, the Red Wings will travel to Norfolk, Va., to take on the Tides (Orioles Triple-A affiliate).
Local fans will have a chance to catch Blankenhorn in action starting May 2-7 when his Red Wings travel to Moosic to take on the Scranton/WB Railriders (Yankees).
