Lorraine (Kohut) Lucas, 80, of Fort Washington, Md., died February 21, 2023.
She was born on October 24, 1942, in Pottsville and raised in Branchdale, a daughter of immigrants, from Slovakia, John and Anna (Brek) Kohut.
Lorraine attended Reilly Township Elementary school, and was a 1960 graduate of Cass Township High School. She graduated from Pottsville Hospital School of Nursing with her Registered Nurse Diploma in 1963.
She worked 18 years at Roxborough Hospital in Philadelphia, and 25+ years at Livingston Health Care Center in Maryland, from where she retired in 2013.
She was a devout Catholic, and member of St. Mary’s of Piscataway Catholic Church in Maryland, and practiced her faith regularly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Anna (Michael Warhola), and Mary (Andrew Makara).
She is survived by her husband, Paul, her daughter, Lori (Mike Bangert), and her grandchildren: Anna, Michael, and Thomas Bangert; beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, March 2 at St. Matthew the Evangelist Church of the Holy Family Parish, Minersville, with Reverend Jason F. Stokes celebrant.
Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville, was in charge of arrangements. Interment at St. Mary, Star of the Sea Cemetery.
