State Police Trooper Stabbed While Serving Warrant Outside Hamburg

Injuries not considered life-threatening

A State Trooper in Berks County was stabbed early this morning while serving a warrant on a man.

According to State Police-Hamburg, this incident happened just before 9 a.m. at a home on Bachmoll Rd., Tilden Twp., outside Hamburg.

Police arrived at that home to serve a mental health warrant (aka 302 warrant) on a 27-year-old man. 

While attempting to take the man into custody, a State Trooper was stabbed multiple times int he leg. 

Eventually, police were able to get the man into custody and taken to Penn State St. Joseph’s Hospital for a mental health evaluation. Following that evaluation, the man was taken to the State Police-Hamburg barracks.

Charges have not been filed as of publishing.

The stabbed Trooper was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest for treatment of their injuries. The injuries are not considered life-threatening.
