Ronald J. Ferrari Sr., 85, Girardville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 21st at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown with his family by his side.
Born in Ashland, he was a son of the late Theodore and Marie Coyle Ferrari. He worked as a punch press adjuster for Zapata Industries, Frackville, until his retirement in 1988.
Ron was a United States Army Veteran having served from 1961 to 1963. He was a lifetime member of the Frackville Elks BPOE 1533, the Girard Hose Company and the American Legion. He was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed attending his grandchildrenβs sporting events. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Miriam Bradley; his brothers: Ted Ferrari Jr., Tom Ferrari and Joe Ferrari; his grandson Nicholas Pelak.
Ron is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary A. (Gownley) Ferrari, Girardville; his sons: Ron Jr. and his wife Kathy Ferrari, Pipersville; Joseph F. and his wife Sandy Ferrari, Ashland; his daughters: Camille and her husband Christopher Katsoris, Frackville; Margaret and her husband Paul Pelak, St. Petersburg, FL; Lavinia and her husband Mark Yanes, Womelsdorf; his brothers: Robert J. Ferrari, Girardville; Louis Sr. and his wife Geraldine Ferrari, Ashland; his grandchildren: Michael, Faith, Anthony, Evan, Taylor, Narissa, Natasha, John, Kathryn and Rachael; several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 27th at noon from Saint Charles Borromeo Church, Ashland with Rev. Giuseppe Esposito, pastor, as the celebrant. Friends are invited to his viewing at the church on Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of mass. Interment with military honors will be held at St. Josephβs Catholic Cemetery, Fountain Springs.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in Ronaldβs name, to St. Jude Childrenβs Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
