Orwigsburg Veterans Memorial Hall recently secured $750,000 in federal grant funding for improvements to the facility.
US Rep. Dan Meuser (PA-9) announced the grant funding is through the Community Project Funding of the USDA Rural Development program.
The money is to be used for improvements to the building, including activity space and meeting rooms. Grant funds will also be used for athletic programs for the Orwigsburg area community.
“It is my honor to assist in ensuring this hall is a place to commemorate our nation’s heroes and bring the Orwigsburg community together for many years to come,” Meuser says.
Meuser also thanked the Orwigsburg Veterans Memoria Development Task Force for its work.
“The Orwigsburg Veterans Memorial Development Taskforce has partnered with the Borough of Orwigsburg to assure that this wonderful community building, the Veterans Memorial Community Hall, would be renovated and preserved in honor of all our veterans,” says Bob Carl, president of the Veterans Memorial Task Force. “We are truly grateful to Congressman Meuser for listening to the history, mission, and dedication of this building to honor our Veterans and for partnering with the greater Orwigsburg area community for the benefit and use of this landmark for Schuylkill County.”
