State Police in Schuylkill County are looking for potential witnesses to a tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 81 on Sunday afternoon.
According to information from the Frackville barracks, the crash happened at about 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, near Mile Marker 124 on I-81 South in West Mahanoy Twp.
Police say a tractor-trailer driven by a 54-year-old man, along with his 31-year-old female passenger, left the southbound lanes of I-81. The truck crossed over the center median and northbound lanes of the roadway.
It then went down an embankment before coming to a final stop along Altamont Blvd., below the highway overpass.
The driver and passenger, both of whom haven’t been identified, were removed from the vehicle by emergency services personnel at the scene and then flown by medical helicopters to hospitals in Danville and outside Allentown. Their conditions are unknown.
