State Police Launch Investigation Prompted By Blue Mountain Request

Teacher placed on leave on Tuesday.

Pennsylvania State Police confirmed late Tuesday that it’s investigating a lead from Blue Mountain School District into potential sexual misconduct by a high school teacher.

In a brief statement, police say staff at Blue Mountain School District contacted Troop L-Schuylkill Haven barracks on Tuesday. Their contact was in relation to a YouTube video posted by Musa Harris (aka Luzerne County Predator Catcher).

In that video, a man behind the wheel of a pickup truck suspected of being a Blue Mountain High School teacher is confronted by Harris. Harris says he baited the man into meeting him for a sexual encounter online, posing as a minor.

There’s a brief exchange between Harris and the man inside and outside the pickup.

After the video became widely circulated online, Blue Mountain School District Superintendent David Helsel released a statement indicating the school had placed a high school teacher on administrative leave because of a YouTube video.

Police say in their statement that the video is “depicting suspected criminal activity” and that an “investigation is ongoing at this time.”

No more information has been released.
