Pottsville native Travis Blankenhorn has been named International League Player of the Week.
The New York Mets Triple-A farmhand received the honor for his work during the week of June 20-26.
During that time, Blankenhorn went on a tear at the plate for the Syracuse Mets and that continued a string of good fortune for the Mets utility prospect and former Pottsville Area High School grad.
For the week of June 20-26, Blankenhorn hit an astounding .600 – going 12-20 at the dish – knocked in 6 runs and hit a pair of home runs.
After getting out to a sluggish start to the 2022 season, Blankenhorn has really upped his production since mid-May. According to the Syracuse Mets, since May 12, Blankenhorn is hitting .350 wotj 21 RBI, 5 HR, 11 doubles, and 20 runs scored.
He’s also hit safely in 30 of the Triple-A Mets last 34 games.
For the season, Blankenhorn has upped his batting average to .281. He’s got a total of 9 home runs and 36 RBI. He’s also stolen 8 bases.
