Police say they seized, among other items, about $7,000 in suspected fentanyl or heroin during a raid on a home in Pottsville on Thursday.
According to information from State Police in Reading, the raid went down just before 5 p.m. on March 17 at 1419 W. Market St. in the city.
Officers from State Police Troop L-Reading Vice/Narcotics and Pottsville PD executed a search and seizure warrant at that location. During the bust, police say they recovered the following:
- About 700 baggies filled with either fentanyl or heroin. Police estimate its street value at $7,000.
- About 3 pounds of marijuana, worth about $9,000
- More than $165,000 in cash
- A suspected stolen gun
- About 70 THC cartridges
- “Numerous items of drug paraphernalia”

At the scene, police arrested Jose Rivera-Hernandez, 31, of Pottsville. He was arraigned before District Judge David Plachko early Friday morning and charged with several felonies, including a pair of drug charges, a weapons charge, and one for receiving stolen property.
Plachko set bail at $150,000 and ordered Rivera-Hernandez to Schuylkill County Prison where he’s currently awaiting a Preliminary Hearing on March 28.78
