A Tamaqua man died Monday morning in a vehicle crash along Route 61 in Berks County.
According to State Police in Hamburg, Jordan Smith, 22, of Tamaqua, was driving south on the highway, a few hundred feet south of Hughes Hill Rd. in Windsor Township. At about 6:45 a.m., Jordan’s vehicle crossed the center line of Route 61 and into the path of a vehicle driven by Randy Leh, 57, of Wyomissing, Berks County.
Jordan’s vehicle met Leh’s head-on. The Tamaqua man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Leh was taken to Reading Hospital by ambulance for unspecified injuries.
Assisting State Police at the scene of the crash was personnel from Hamburg EMS, Union Fire Co. in Hamburg, Shoemakersville Fire Co., Hamburg PD, and the Berks County Coroner’s office.
