Schuylkill County Has the Highest Concentrations of Ukraine Roots in the US

4 of the top 10 communities in the US with Ukraine roots are right here in Schuylkill County

Schuylkill County has the highest concentration of people claiming Ukrainian ancestry in the United States.

That includes Cass Township, which (according to the 2000 Census) is the municipality with the highest concentration of its population with Ukraine roots.

A little more than 14% of Cass Twp. claims to be of Ukrainian descent. Among the top 10 American communities in this category, there are 4 in Schuylkill County:

  • 14.3% in Cass Twp. (Most in the US)
  • 12.4% in Gilberton (4th)
  • 8.8% in St. Clair (7th)
  • 7.6% in Frackville (9th)

    Don’t you have better things to report about Ukraine rather than the percentage of Ukrianians in a small town? I live in a town in the Midwest and there are probably more Ukrainians in 2 apartment complexes than the total population of Schuylkill.

      Yeah, no. We have nothing better to report. Also, that must be a very large apartment complex. Our population is more than 150,000.
