If you haven’t noticed, it’s been really cold lately.
And on Saturday morning, the deep freeze felt across most of Pennsylvania definitely hit home here in Schuylkill County.
According to National Weather Service reporting, these were some low temperatures observed around the coal region on Saturday morning, Jan. 22:
- -3 in Valley View
- -3 in Tower City
Just outside the county, it was even colder:
- -9 near Mount Carmel
- -3 at Knoebel’s Grove
And as cold as that is, check out some of these observed temps around Pennsylvania this morning:
- -21 in Smethport
- -17 in Knoxville
- -17 in Grand Valley
- -15 in Kersey
- -14 in Wellsboro
That’s just brutal. This tweet from NWS-State College suggests temps could have dipped even lower than that this morning.
Thankfully for us here in the coal region, it won’t be that cold tonight. We’re expecting a low temperature of about 15. On Sunday night, expect a low of 9.
The next chance for bitter cold temps like this comes on Wednesday night when the low is expected to bottom out at 3.
