An AutoZone store is proposed in the St. Clair Area. And if it’s approved, it’ll mark the end of a busy, little gas station.
Schuylkill County Planning Commission will consider giving a conditional final plan approval to a project that’ll put the auto parts store at the corner of Route 61 and Ann St., in East Norwegian Twp. and St. Clair borough.
Currently on that site is a Mobil gas station that’s often very busy. It’s unknown what the plans are for that business should the AutoZone plan get approved.
You can check out the extensive plans, as submitted to the Schuylkill County Planning Commission, for the AutoZone store here:

The proposed site for the new AutoZone is actually on two properties at that busy intersection close to the Fairlane Village mall. A slim portion of the property that meets Ann St. is actually in St. Clair borough. The rest is in East Norwegian Twp.
If these plans move forward, the County Planning Commission is expected to consider it for final approval a little later this year. The Planning Commission will meet on these plans on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Schuylkill County Courthouse in Pottsville at 6 p.m.
There are currently 2 AutoZone stores in Schuylkill County, along Route 61 near Schuylkill Haven, and another location near Hometown.
