National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Schuylkill County through the first part of Sunday, Jan. 9.
The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 5 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Here are the counties affected by this Advisory:
- Tioga
- Northern Lycoming
- Sullivan
- Southern Lycoming
- Union
- Snyder
- Montour
- Northumberland
- Columbia
- Schuylkill
Winter Weather Advisory – Schuylkill County – 5 a.m.-2 p.m. – Sunday, Jan. 9
This advisory suggests the worst of the wintry weather will start early Sunday morning.
We could see up to 1 inch of snow and sleet before it changes to freezing rain and then plain rain. An ice accretion of about one-tenth of an inch is expected but should melt as temperatures rise.
Roads and surfaces will be slippery and travel hazardous during the storm on Sunday morning.
