Up to 4 Inches of Snow Falls on Schuylkill County in First Plowable Storm of Season

You probably forgot how much fun shoveling snow can be.

Parts of Schuylkill County got as much as 4 inches of snow overnight in the first plowable storm of this winter season.

According to National Weather Service weather spotters and observations, the following snow depths were measured around the area, in southern and western Schuylkill County:

  • Pine Grove: 4.1″
  • Orwigsburg: 4″
  • Auburn: 4″
  • Valley View: 3.4″

In the Pottsville area, we received a healthy 2, probably 3 inches of snow from the overnight storm.

With a few exceptions, it was a quiet night on the roads, with only a few minor crashes being reported over emergency radio.

Pennsylvania Snow Totals from Jan. 6-7 Storm

The snowiest parts of Pennsylvania from the overnight storm appear to be in southern and central counties. Here are some totals, as recorded by National Weather Service:

  • Hidden Valley, Somerset County: 7″
  • Valley Green, York County: 7″
  • Shiremanstown, Cumberland County: 6.6″
  • Cashtown, Adams County: 6.5″
  • Waynesboro, Franklin County: 6.3″
  • Loganville, York County: 6.3″
  • Gettysburg, Adams County: 6″
  • Parkville, York County: 6″
