Police in one York County community got an unexpected surprise during a traffic stop last night.
According to police in Newberry Township, they pulled over a vehicle along Old Trail and Old York roads. They suspected the driver, a 19-year-old woman, was either drunk or high.
It’s just … they may not have realized just how drunk or high she might have been.
When an officer approached the vehicle, he noticed something rather unusual inside … a live deer.
A. Live. Deer!
Those inside the vehicle told police they’d hit the deer earlier and for some reason, decided to collect it in their vehicle. They thought it was dead.

But after a short time, it became apparent that the deer was still alive but “continued to drive with the animal in the vehicle.”
A passenger in the vehicle, identified as a 21-year-old York Haven man, was ordered to let the deer out of the vehicle. The driver was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI.
Police say the Pennsylvania Game Commission is assisting in its investigation.
Now, you’d be really disappointed if there wasn’t video accompanying this story. Lucky for you … there is.
