A police standoff Friday morning ended peacefully at a home near Sweet Arrow Lake, Washington Township.
According to information released this evening by State Police in Schuylkill Haven, troopers were initially dispatched just before 11 a.m. to a home on Muskee Ln., located in a small development off the northeast portion of the lake.
A man called police when they reportedly saw their neighbor smashing out the windows of his own home and outside screaming. The neighbor says the man was shouting about wanting the police to kill him. He also threatened neighbors during this incident.
By the time police arrived, the man was back inside his home. Police attempted to make contact with him but were unsuccessful in getting him to come out of his home.
Police say they were granted an “involuntary commitment for mental health evaluation and the State Police Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) arrived at the home.
Eventually, the man surrendered to police and was taken into custody and taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation.
