Anthony S. “Tony” Gurski, Sr., 87 of Pine Grove, passed away on Saturday, October 16, in Schuylkill Haven.
Tony was born on February 20, 1934 in Forrestville, he was a son of the late Anthony S. Gurski, Helen Zulick Gurski Razzi and step father Anthony Razzi.
Tony was a veteran of the Korean War and VietNam Conflict, retiring with 20 years of service in the Air Force. Following his retirement from the Air Force in 1973, he was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Tremont, retiring after 21 years of service.
Tony was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, loved lighthouses, traveling, and played softball his entire adult life until the age of 70. He coached Teener League with his sons and was an avid fan at his granddaughters’ softball games. Tony was a life member of the Pine Grove VFW Post 3432 and the Pine Grove American Legion Post 374, and was a member of the Pine Grove Lions. He was also a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Pine Grove since 1973.
Surviving are his wife, Jeannie L. Luedtke Gurski to whom he would have been married 62 years on October 29; three sons, Anthony Gurski, Jr., and wife Margaret of Pine Grove, Scot Gurski and wife Robin of Pine Grove, Michael Gurski and partner Denise of Franklin, NJ; two daughters, Cindy Sims and husband Rod of Schuylkill Haven, and Kathy Quick and husband Ivan Jr., of Ashland; 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were a brother, Charles Gurski, sister, Gladys Gehrig and granddaughter Alicia Gursky.
Funeral services will be held at H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., on Tuesday, October 26, at 12:30 pm with SALM John Ziegler officiating. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, October 26, from 10:30 am until time of service at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc. Interment will follow in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA
