Richard E. “Dimmer of Pottsville entered into eternal rest at his residence, Tuesday morning October 12, 2021.
Born on October 31, 1935 in the village of Mary D, he was the son of the late Clarence and Clara Leymeister.
After graduating from the former Orwigsburg High School, he enlisted in the US Army and served in Korea and then later joined the Reserves.
He was active in many organizations which include West End Hose Co., Pottsville, Mary D Fire Co., Strausstown Rod and Gun Club, Friedensburg American Legion, Union County West end Fire Co. Glenn Iron, Pa., AMVETS Pottsville Post 108, Pine Grove VFW, Goodwill Hose Co., Cressona and the American Legion, Fredricksburg.
Dimmer as he was affectionately known, worked as an electrician and also was employed by the Hetran Company. While employed by Hetran, he made the electrical wiring for various types of machines.
In addition to his parents he was preceded by his wife Lois A. (Weigand) Leymeister on May 2, 2002 and two brothers Clarence and Lester. Surviving are daughters Debra Hewes, Pottsville; Linda Leymeister, Denton, Texas and Diane Featherstone, Pottsville. He is also survived by his grandchildren AJ, Josh and Jake Hewes and Kate Featherstone; Great-Grandchildren Ryan, Gina, Jeremy, Jarrod, Venna, Laney and Leo; Sister Phyllis Barber and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday October 20, 2021 at noon at The Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home. Family and Friends may call from 10 o’clock to the time of service. Internment with Military Honors will be held on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
