Margaret “Peg” Long, 77, of Joliett, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous fight against cancer.
Born in Pottsville, June 24, 1944, a daughter of the late Joseph and Alice Purcell Close. Peg was a graduate of the former Cass Township High School.
She was of the Catholic faith. Peg spent her life taking care of her family who meant the world to her.
Peg loved being in the outdoors, especially tending to flowers and watching hummingbirds.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, James Close.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Larry J. Long; a son, Larry N. Long, three daughters, Sherry Gilbert (Brian), Dianne Long,and Pamela Long, all of Joliett; her four grandchildren she adored, Richard Geist,Jr., Trista and Tawny Gilbert and Lea Glosek. a brother, Joseph Close, St. Clair; a sister, Alice Schultz, Minersville. Nieces and nephews.
A walkthrough visitation will be held on Thursday, October 14th from 10-11 am from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc., Tower City. In lieu of flowers donations should be given to the American Cancer Society, 712 S. Keser Avenue, Taylor, PA 18157 or visit www.cancer.org.
