Check out this video we got from a woman near Hegins and Valley View in Schuylkill County Wednesday afternoon.

In a social media post, Kortnee Wagner says she was on her way to a doctor’s appointment today and spotted what appears to be a tornado touching down in the Hegins valley. She posted the video a little after 1 p.m. Wednesday, right around when National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement about potentially severe storms making their way through western Schuylkill County.

Wagner tells The Canary she was on Grove Rd. in Hegins Township at the time on her way to Valley View.

“It was really neat to see,” she says. “My husband always dreamed of seeing one in person. It was definitely something I’ll never forget.”

It does not appear as though the funnel cloud appears for very long but just long enough for Wagner to capture some of it on her phone.

“Ho. Lee. S#!t,” she says while recording the video.

Tornado Watch for Schuylkill County until 8 p.m.

National Weather Service has placed Schuylkill County under a Tornado Watch until 8 p.m. Wednesday as the remnants of the storm formerly known as Tropical Storm Fred march through Pennsylvania today.

Weather officials will no doubt investigate and confirm if this was an actual tornado that touched down near Hegins today.

It’s possible some locations locally could receive 2 inches of rain today and tonight as the storm moves through the area.

It tore through Blyler’s Fruit farm homestead orchard. It took out 20 to 30 trees.
