Damage to an apartment building on Water St. in New Philadelphia was limited thanks to the quick response of firefighters.
First responders were dispatched to 18 Water St., a 6-unit apartment complex, Sunday afternoon, a little before 4.
When they arrived, heavy smoke was visible in a third-floor apartment.
Quick work limited the worst of the fire and smoke damage to the top floor of the building.
The incident drew a massive response from fire companies in the area. Fire crews from the area surrounding New Philadelphia, Pottsville, and Schuylkill Haven responded to Sunday’s incident.
According to Liberty Fire Co. in Haven, they had a crew just returning from a garage fire on Sculps Hill Rd. and no sooner were they sending out a team to the incident in New Philly.
