Nearly one-third of Schuylkill County residents 16 years old and older have gotten a full COVID vaccine.
According to information from the Pennsylvania Dept. of Health, 34,475 locals have gotten their full vaccine dosage. And more than 50,000 people have gotten at least one dose of the vaccine. That represents about 32% of residents eligible to receive the vaccine.
For our estimate, we figure 75% of the county’s population of about 141,000 is at least 16 years old. Children under the age of 16 haven’t been approved to get the vaccine.
In the last week, ending April 17, nearly 4,400 people got their final dose of the vaccine. Another 3,150 got their first dose. That means 7,544 doses were administered between April 11-17, down by about 1,100 from the week prior. In the last week, Pennsylvania made all residents 16 and up eligible to receive the vaccine.
It’s likely these figures will be adjusted higher over the next few days and weeks as the state receives more information from vaccine providers.
