The rescheduled 2021 St. Patrick’s Day parade in Girardville is now canceled.
Parade organizers announced last week that the popular local event will be held March 26, 2022.
The 2021 version of the parade was pushed back from its regularly scheduled time to allow more time for the pandemic to fade.
But in a social media post, organizers say that holding two parades the size of the one in Girardville in a single calendar year would be difficult. They believe asking for donations twice in less than 365 days would also be unfair, especially in what they call tough economic times.
There hasn’t been a Girardville St. Patrick’s Day Parade since 2019. It typically draws thousands of people from in and around Schuylkill County. Any money raised for the 2020 edition of the parade will now be put toward the 2022 march.
