Eleanor B. (Icky) Sandherr, 97, of Orwigsburg, passed away Saturday, March 27th.

Eleanor was born in Orwigsburg on September 18, 1923, a daughter of the late Helen (Bensinger) and George Shoener. She was the widow of Galen M. Sandherr, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.

Eleanor was a graduate of Orwigsburg High School, class of 1941. During her lifetime, she enjoyed working in the cafeteria of Blue Mountain School District. She was very active in her community and her church. She was a seamstress, a wonderful cook and liked to sing in the choir.

Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Jodi Sandherr of Lancaster; granddaughter Christin Creznic, married to Nate Creznic of Harrisburg; great grandchildren Ethan, Eli and Emma; her sister-in-law Martha Shoener; nieces Carol Chismar, wife of Paul, Patricia Shoener, and nephew Craig Fahringer,

She was preceded in death by daughter Janet M. Fidler in 1996; sisters Mildred Deibert, Margaret LeVan, Jean Kovach and her brother George “Gum” Shoener as well as an infant sister.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 17th at 11 AM at Salem United Methodist Church in Orwigsburg with Pastor Steward Warner officiating. Visitation will be from 9 AM until the time of service. Interment will be private.
