George F. Leiby Jr., 69 – Ringtown Mayor

George F. Leiby Jr., 69, Mayor of Ringtown, was reunited with the love of his life, Mary Lou, on Monday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, Allentown with his family by his side.

Born in Ashland, he was a son of the late George and Ethel Davis Leiby Sr. He had been employed as a motor carrier enforcement officer for the PA State Police.

He had been the mayor of Ringtown for the past three years. He was an Army Veteran of the Viet Nam War.

George was the commander of the Nuremberg American Legion Post, Life member of Goodwill Hose Co, Frackville and was an avid hunter and fisherman belonging to numerous Fish and Game Clubs in the area. He was also a PA State Constable and a deputy game warden.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou Caton Leiby in 2014.

George is survived by his son Heath and his wife Nicole Leiby, Ashland, his daughter Heather wife of Eric Snyder, Ringtown, his grandchildren; Jaden Leiby, Jake Green, Rachel Green Austin Snyder and Vanessa Snyder, great-grandchildren; Mason and Morgan and by his #1 Beagle Heidi.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday at Noon from the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Frackville, with Rev. Jeff Merwine officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Frackville. A viewing will be held on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers contributions , in George’s name, be made to Adam Taliaferro Foundation, 1710 Kingswood Place, Clementon, NJ 08021.

All CDC guidelines will be followed, masks are required.
