North Schuylkill graduate Reggie Crawford delivered an absolute monster home run over the right field wall on Friday in the 2021 baseball season opener for the UConn Huskies at Virginia.
Crawford’s homer came on a 1-0 pitch in the top of the 7th inning to pull the Huskies within a run of the Cavaliers. His team would not be able to get another run across, however, dropping the game, 2-1.
For the game, Crawford went 2-for-3 with a strikeout, batting fifth in the UConn lineup. Crawford is UConn’s starting first baseman and is hoping to build off the fast start he got on the 2020 season before it was abruptly ended by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2019 North Schuylkill graduate started in all 13 UConn games last year, hitting .365 with 1 home run and 16 RBI. Crawford was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 37th round of the 2019 MLB Entry Draft but opted to play at UConn.
