Alma Stramaitis, 94 – Made Everyone Feel Welcome

Alma Stramaitis, 94, of Pottsville, formerly of Minersville, passed away at home with her daughter, granddaughter, grandson and great-grandson at her side.

Born on December 31, 1926 in Heckscherville, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Julia Curran O’Brien. She attended St. Kieran School.

She was a member of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a current member of St. Michael the Archangel Church of Holy Family Parish, Minersville.

While Alma enjoyed an occasional casino visit, she was happiest in the presence of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alma never hesitated to offer coffee/tea, a sweet or her opinion to anyone who visited. Anyone who met her always felt welcome.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 53 years, Victor B. Stramaitis, in 2001; six brothers, Robert, Francis, Joseph, Thomas, John, James and Cyril O’Brien; two sisters, Helen O’Brien and Kathleen “Kitty” Androshick; a best friend, Thelma Kulpcavage.

Alma is survived by five children, Victor Stramaitis (spouse, Rochelle), Newville, Debbie Sinko (spouse, David), Minersville, Ronald Stramaitis (spouse, Lisa), Hershey, Judy Downey (spouse, Anthony II), Palmyra, and Lisa Davidson, with whom she resided; eleven grandchildren, Kelli Ann Wenrich (spouse, Nick), Ryan Stramaitis (Erin), David Sinko II (spouse, Michelle), Dr. Nathan Sinko (companion, Kacee Abel), Graeme Sinko (spouse, Samantha), Justin Stramaitis, Jayne Stramaitis, Anthony Downey III (spouse, Christina), Alec Downey (companion, Samantha Fiore), Alyssa Davidson (companion, Bretten Mohl) and Aaron Davidson; seven great grandchildren, Harper Stramaitis, Natalie Sinko, Lillith Sinko, Desi Sinko, Julian Sinko, Laney Stramaitis and Gabriel Mohl. She was expecting two more great-grandchildren in the months to come. She is also survived by her sister, Anna Kozura, Woodland Acres, and a best friend, Georgine Mahall, Minersville; nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Saturday from 7:00 A.M. Visitation will end promptly at 9:15 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Michael the Archangel Church, 539 Sunbury Street, Minersville. Visitors and attendees are expected to follow CDC guidelines. Commital will be in Calvary Cemetery, Hillside, Pottsville. Donations to Holy Family Parish are preferred.
