Edward J. Zavatsky, 73, of Newtown, passed away Wednesday at Geisinger St. Luke’s Hospital, Orwigsburg.

Born in Pottsville, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Yaworski) Zavatsky.

He was a machinist with the railroad for 30+ years. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a 1965 graduate of Minersville High School. He was a member of the Most Blessed Trinity Church, Tremont. He was a member of the Newtown Fire Co., the Newtown Gun Club, the Pine Grove VFW and Minersville American Legion Post 544, Minersville.

Ed truly enjoyed his card games with his friends at the Newtown Gun Club and Firehouse, going to the casino and most importantly spending time with his grandkids. He will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Sincavage.

Edward is survived by his wife the former Ann Marie Lemke; 3 daughters, Amanda Sincavage and her husband Edward, Lake Wynonah, Debbie Zavatsky, at home and Nancy Zavatsky, Llewellyn; 3 grandchildren, Aaliyah Bush, Drake Bush and Tanner Sincavage; a brother, John Zavatsky and his wife Gloria, Oklahoma; nieces and nephews and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon on Tuesday in Most Blessed Trinity Church, Tremont. Rev. George J. Kochuparambil will officiate. Relatives and friends may call at the Donald J. Butler Funeral Home, 328 Sunbury St., Minersville on Tuesday morning from 9AM to 11:30AM. Visitors are asked to observe CDC and PADOH guidelines for COVID 19. Interment with Military Honors will be in Indiantown National Cemetery, Annville, Pa.

The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Edward to the Tyler Sincavage Memorial Fund, c/o Schuylkill Area Community Foundation, 216 S. Centre St., Pottsville, Pa. 17901. Contributions will also be accepted at the funeral home.
