It’s time to get those Mega Millions tickets. The jackpot for the January 19th drawing now stands at $850 million.
There hasn’t been a Mega Millions jackpot winner since mid-September. And tonight’s jackpot stands as the second-largest in the lottery’s history. Only one drawing, back in 2018, was worth more ($1.537 billion).
No one won the drawing last Friday, of course, when the jackpot was $750 million. If no one wins on Tuesday, we could be looking at a $1 billion jackpot this weekend.

This big Mega Millions jackpot comes at the same time as the other big lottery, Powerball, keeps seeing its jackpot go up, too. The drawing for that on Wednesday night will be for $730 million.
To win the Mega Millions jackpot, players must match all 5 numbers drawn from 1-70 and they have to match the Mega Ball pick, from 1-25.
Picking all 5 numbers from 1-70 without the Mega Ball wins players $1 million.
There’s a 1 in 302,575,350 chance of winning the Mega Millions jackpot.
You can actually buy Mega Millions tickets online through the PA Lottery site. Tickets can be purchased up to 9:59 p.m (Eastern) prior to the drawing.
