Phyllis (Shay) Kramer, of Pottsville and Reading, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021, at the age of 82.
She was born May 6, 1938 in Pottsville and was a graduate of Pottsville High School. She eventually settled in Reading where she lived the majority of her life.
Her youthful spirit and love of life were evident to all who knew her. In her high school days, Phyllis was an accomplished dancer and appeared on American Bandstand on several occasions. Later, while facing life’s many challenges, she never lost her youthful exuberance. Even while working through serious illnesses in the latter stages of her life, she never complained and was often heard laughing with family and friends.
Phyllis was a devoted wife, an absolutely wonderful mother and a loyal friend. She adored her father, revered her mother and loved and admired her sister Doris. She held a special place in her heart for her “daughter” Becky and her grandson Jackson. Above all, Phyllis was extremely caring and generous to everyone she met.
As Manager of the Dental Clinic at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Reading, Phyllis managed clinic operations while guiding the Dental Residency program and coordinating the Children’s Clinic. She truly cherished the friendships she formed during her years in the dental field dating back to the early Seventies.
She is preceded in death by her husband Wayne Kramer; parents Jonathan and Marie Shay; and sisters Nancy Shay and Doris (Shay) Bercher.
She is survived by her son, John, husband of Rebecca; and grandson Jackson.
