Dora L. Wertz, 93 – Spent Life Caring for Others

Dora L. Wertz, 93, formerly of Muir, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown.

Born in Muir, July 4, 1927, a daughter of the late Garvin and Mary Romberger Bixler. Dora was a retired seamstress working in numerous factories including Bestok and Mansonwear.

She was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, Orwin.

Dora spent her entire life caring for others, she will be remembered as one of the kindest, sweetest and most gentle women. She always enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. Her love and pride for her family was evident to anyone she came in contact with.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Theodore “Tom” Wertz, 2009. Dora was the youngest of thirteen siblings, who all predeceased her.

Surviving are her three children, Dr. Philip Wertz (PhD) and his wife Nancy, Iowa; Debbie Westle and her husband Rob, Philadelphia and Dr. James Wertz (DO) and his wife Carol, Bethlehem; her seven grandchildren, Henry and Jocelyn Wertz; Jessica and Lydia Westle; Andrew, Kathryn and Nicholas Wertz; three great grandchildren, Indigo, Calla and Milo. Many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 11:00 am from the Methodist Cemetery, Muir with Rev. Maureen Duffy-Guy officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dora’s name should be made to St. Peter’s UCC, 427 Dietrich Avenue, Orwin, PA 17980.
