US Rep. Dan Meuser (PA-9) crushed his Democrat challenger on Tuesday by a more than 2-to-1 margin.
Meuser romped over Gary Wegman, a Berks County dentist, by carrying each of the 8 counties which comprise Pennsylvania’s 9th District in Congress, including Schuylkill County.
In Schuylkill County, Meuser defeated Wegman by more than 27,000 votes. That was Meuser’s largest margin of victory among those 8 counties: Schuylkill, Berks, Lebanon, Carbon, Luzerne, Columbia, Montour, and Northumberland.
And in total, Meuser collected more than 68% of the total vote to just below 32% for Wegman.
Meuser was first elected to Congress in the newly drawn 9th District back in 2018. Two years ago, Meuser topped Democrat Denny Wolff by nearly 20 percentage points. He came into Tuesday’s election as the heavy favorite over Wegman.
Here is how the votes broke down by county, according to Coal Region Canary’s calculations, which are confirmed by the Associated Press’ count as well.
Neither candidate issued a public statement to followers after the votes were finally counted.
