The two men who robbed an undercover agent at gunpoint in Frackville and then led police on a wild pursuit through Schuylkill County now face burglary charges.
State Police in Schuylkill Haven say that during their daring run from the law, Damar Coad, of Reading, and John Fidanqui-Marten, of The Bronx, NY, broke into a home along Summer Valley Rd. in the overnight hours of Sept. 17.
Drug Duo on the Run Broke Into West Brunswick Home, Stole Diet Pepsi and Shoes
Police say Coad and Marten broken into a detached wine cellar at a property in West Brunswick Township. While they were in the wine cellar, Coad and Marten helped themselves each to a can of Diet Pepsi. After drinking the Diet Pepsi, they made their way to the home adjacent to the wine cellar. They broke a window to get into the home and once inside, each stole a pair of shoes. One stole a pair of Reebok sneakers and the other took a pair of Ugg-style boots.
Once they got the shoes, they fled the house and continued their run from law enforcement. The pair were eventually nabbed later that morning by State Police. Each was wearing a pair of the shoes they stole.
Coad and Marten’s exploits started the day before when they allegedly robbed an undercover informant in the parking lot of the Unity Food Mart in Frackville. They held the informant at gunpoint and took $7,500 from a would-be drug sale.
They led police on a pursuit south on Route 61, avoiding at least one set of spike strips on their way out of Schuylkill County. When they tried to avoid hitting another spike strip set up near the intersection of Routes 61 and 895, they crashed their vehicle. Coad and Marten got out of the vehicle and ran.
Police immediately launched a manhunt for the duo that lasted through the night. A police helicopter was deployed early on in the search but turned up nothing.
At about 7:45 a.m. on Sept. 17, police eventually caught up to the pair and took them into custody.
It’s estimated the value of the property damaged and stolen from the West Brunswick home is about $650.
