Feeling lucky?

The Mega Millions jackpot for Friday, September 11 is worth $108 million.

After hitting two weeks in a row at the end of July, we went through all of August without a jackpot winner in the Mega Millions drawing.

That means the jackpot has reached 9 figures and could mean a big payout for a lucky winner or winners.

Mega Millions drawings happen on Fridays and Tuesdays at 11 p.m.

Mega Millions Jackpot on September 11 at $108 Million

To play Mega Millions, players have to pick 5 numbers between 1 and 70 plus a Mega Ball number between 1 and 25. Match all 6 numbers and you win the Jackpot. If no one wins, that money is added to the Jackpot for next Tuesday.

For Pennsylvania players, however, their chances aren’t too great at winning. We’ve only been playing Mega Millions since January 2010 and in that time, only 1 Pennsylvania player has won the big jackpot. That happened back in May 2014 when Carl Szott, of Pittsburgh, hit it big for $149 million.

A winning ticket was purchased in Milton in 2015 by a Virginia man who won $153 million.

Jackpot History

Of course, tonight’s $108 million isn’t the biggest jackpot in Mega Millions history. But you’d hardly sneeze at that kind of loot if you hit on all 6 numbers tonight.

The biggest jackpot in the history of Mega Millions was awarded back in 2018 when one winner hit for $1.54 billion. That’s the second-largest lottery jackpot in US history. In January 2016, the Powerball jackpot was one by a single ticket holder for $1.59 billion.

A $100 million jackpot is not that uncommon but it doesn’t come along every day. Since 2002, there have been 84 Mega Millions jackpots worth more than $100 million. And there have been 3 this year already. The latest came back on July 24 when a New Jersey resident hit for $123 million.

But that wasn’t even the biggest this year. The largest Mega Millions jackpot hit back on June 9 when an anonymous player who bought a ticket in Arizona won $414 million. That jackpot took about 4 months to accumulate.
