Mount Carbon Bar Owner Who Bucked Governor’s Order Plans Write-in Campaign

The Pottsville area bar owner who tried bucking Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf’s order that he close his business in response to the coronavirus pandemic is considering a run for public office.

Mike Glauda, of Pottsville, owns Goodfellas bar in neighboring Mount Carbon. Recently, he revealed to The Canary that he was going to reopen his bar in defiance of those orders.

Glauda met a lot of pushback from state authorities and eventually backed down. But at the same time, he also garnered a lot of respect and support from Pennsylvanians fed up with the Governor’s tyrannical and often nonsensical response to the pandemic.

Buoyed by that support, Glauda says he’s launching a last-minute bid for State House of Representatives. He wants write-in votes from Democrats in the June 2 primary election.

There are no other Democrats on the ballot for the 125th District. Four Republicans are running for the GOP nomination to appear on the General Election ballot in November.

Glauda Announces Late Write-in Campaign for State House 125th District

When he released the following statement on his Facebook page and via text to The Canary, some questioned why he’d run as a Democrat. Glauda explains that he’s been a life-long registered Democrat but his views sound more right-leaning than his potential colleagues in the House.

Ultimately, his decision to pursue election to the State House was spurred by his grievances with Pennsylvania Democrat governor.

Here’s his statement posted to his Facebook profile on Thursday night:

First off, I want to thank you all again for all the love and support you have all shown and given to Goodfellas along with myself from around the county, state and country. I love you all.

So after receiving so many request to run for a political office, and thinking it was absolutely suicide and crazy knowing I have no experience and the fact that I am no politician. I now have decided.

Now, with that being said, I know what I do have and that we all have and that is our constitutional rights and that I will protect those rights. We don’t want or need them violated ever again by anyone. Right is right and wrong is wrong. Doesn’t matter if your a democratic or a republican I will always vote for the right’s of my constituents and our civil liberties. We must use these rights before we lose them.

So because of that reason I have decided to run for State Representative in the 125th district on the Democratic ticket as a write in.

Now, if I would happen to win on the Democratic ticket next week as a write in. You know I, MIKE GLAUDA would have your six and would represent you, the little guy like myself and the working people of the 125th district.

And if I lose so be it, at the very least I know that I tried for you and myself. Plenty of qualified people have lost an election. Remember you or I can’t change anything by bitching on social media and sitting on our bum. Nothing changes if you don’t stand your ground and try. So instead of bitching I’m gonna try to make a difference and do something about it. NOW, I only have less then a week to pull this off and will need all of your help. So please share and ask all your friends to do the same and write in MIKE GLAUDA for the 125th district.

I know, I know why on the Democratic ticket you ask. Well Its very simple I am registered that way and never changed parties but, I’m glad because the Demorcratic party did not endorse anyone. Also another point that I never changed parties are….The party you switched from will never stand behind you anymore and the party you switched to never will trust you.

Now, for the people that think Trump goes against the grain you haven’t seen anything yet especially on the Democratic side till now.

As all of you know NOW first hand after I took a chance and stood up alone against the governor to fight for the right’s of every PLCB licensee in the Commonwealth but, also for the right’s of all our patrons last Friday. Now it’s time to stand your ground, voice your opinions and vote your conscience and vote MIKE GLAUDA It didn’t matter to me who they were Republican or Democrat. I will ALWAYS stand up for the right’s and liberties of others including my own. I strongly support the first 1st Amendment. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances also the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution and Article 21 of the PA Constitution. Article 21 states: The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned.

PLEASE help me help all of you !! WRITE in or ask your polling station how to spell GLAUDA. Remember that’s MIKE GLAUDA.

PLEASE SHARE

STAND UP BE HEARD AND VOTE

HAD ENOUGH !!

MIKE GLAUDA.

Thank you all and God Bless.

Respectfully,
Mike Glauda
