We’ve said since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic that Gov. Tom Wolf is making things up as he goes along.
And this is just the latest example. It won’t be the last; we assure you.
On Friday, Wolf announced the first round of counties that phase from Red to Yellow and out of the Stay at Home Order he issued for all of Pennsylvania on April 1.
Well, that wasn’t the fool’s first prank. Seems he’s into pulling fast ones on the first of the month now.
Wolf Lies About Hair Salons and Barbers Opening Under Phase Yellow
So, apparently the latest fast move by Tom Wolf came on Friday. As he announced which 24 Pennsylvania counties phase from Red to Yellow on May 8, he added a little something extra. Just a little reminder to let everyone know that he’s in charge of your lives, not you.
According to WNEP’s Jon Meyer, hair salons and nail salons will not be allowed to re-open during the Phase Yellow stage of the coronavirus re-opening of Pennsylvania.
Well, technically, Wolf had Health Sec. Rachel Levine deliver the bad news.
“Earlier this week, the Department of Health told us specifically that hair salons would be allowed to open in the counties that go to Yellow. I even double checked with the press office,” Meyer wrote in a Facebook post Friday night. “The Secretary of Health just said that is not the case anymore. Hair and nail salons will not be allowed in those counties.”
Hair Salons and Nail Salons Need to Re-Open
This is about more than just feeling the need to get a haircut. Hair salons, nail salons, and barbershops are among the most fragile small businesses in the Pennsylvania economy. Nationwide, that’s true, too.
Many salons and shops are independently owned, often with zero or just a few employees. Barbers and stylists often work as independent contractors, even in someone else’s shop.
Right now, there’s not much of a safety net for people in this situation. Unemployment compensation isn’t an option. And the system created to get freelancers, the self-employed, and independent contractors any type of relief has flopped. Many report not getting anything close to their regular earnings through the state’s slapdash system.
This goes way beyond some peoples’ vanity needs. It’s about survival for these business owners, not just for their businesses but their own lives. These businesses have gone weeks with zero income. Today, businesses lucky enough to get phased into the Yellow zone thought they might have a chance but had the rug pulled out from them at the last minute without a proper explanation.
Schuylkill County Not Included in First Round of Phase Yellow
So, as pissed as you may be that Schuylkill County wasn’t included in the first round of counties to turn from Red to Yellow like the map shared by Meyer and one we shared earlier on Friday, imagine how upset you’d be if we did come out of the lockdown and the Governor immediately pulled a stunt like this. Imagine if you’re one of these business owners who got duped at the last minute.
We can assure you this likely won’t be the last time this happens. It hasn’t even been the first time it’s happened during this ham-handed pandemic response.
A big question remains now: How much more of this nonsense are people willing to take from Wolf?

The BS stench, coming out of Harrisburg, is out of control!
Indeed, how much more of this nonsense are people willing to take from Wolf? And his confused sidekick.

I’m a salon owner and was never under the impression I would be allowed to open during yellow phase. The misinformation is coming from articles like this and others that are meant to have him change his protocols to allow hair salons to open in yellow… Nothing out of his office has ever substantiated those claims or requests. And I have several lines of communication sent to me directly. So whether you like it or not, if you where listening from the top instead of the hearsay you would have known thAt that information was off and never okayed.

You’re not correct. The DOH changed its mind on Yellow phase and salons. The question was asked several times at virtual press conferences.

Indeed, my hair salon, in Berks Co was moving towards opening up. Then the rules changed and here we are three weeks later and everyone is looking like a Big Foot.
People out by Ohio and W VA are heading to those states for hair and nail services. People over in the York area are going into MD. I am about to head to Virginia to get my hair done. Over the waiting now and tired of looking like a ramshackle mess, because some bald guy thinks people do not need hair services. I never saw his wife before today, but she looks like the sort who may put her mumu on and do a box of Nice ‘N Sleezy, while eating a bag of Mexican made Oreo’s.
On the topic of his wife she sure is not out there much is she? Maybe he keeps her in the closet. Bit strange, since I can remember the wife of past governors Even a few of the lieutenant governors . . .

So, with all your keen insights, is any of his edicts, suggestions or recommendations lawful?
…if masks WORK, why aren’t people able to go anywhere, for any reason, with a mask?
…if masks DON’T WORK, why is it recommended that we wear one?
Everything from the Governor and his minions is double talk, misdirection, and open ended answers with no specifics, AND might i add, outright lies. On top of that let it be known that Der Komissar Wolf may have secretly takken temporary residence in another state during this mess…straight up “deserting” his state, during a state of emergency, if true.

In addition to that, Hannah Bachman, above, is linked to a connected website with anti-Trump messaging and derogatory statements… Try to have responsible, critical thought here, for reasonable and thoughtful discussion.
