Barstool Sports Dave Portnoy Reviews Nardone Bros. Pizza

dave portnoy nardone bros pizza review one bite

If you’re a fan of Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy’s famous pizza reviews — “One bite, everybody knows the rules” — you’ve likely seen his coronavirus quarantine videos.

Since he can’t make it to any pizza place he finds, he decided to start reviewing frozen pizzas. At first, it started slow and he reviewed the classics: DiGiorno, Ellio’s, et al.

Then, fans started sending him pizza to his New York apartment. And then they started sending him literally anything and he now does nightly live unboxing videos of all the crap he’s received.

Dave Portnoy Reviews Nardone Bros. Pizza

On April 12, Portnoy reviewed the coal region staple, Nardone Bros., of Wilkes-Barre. Check out the video below to watch Mr. Pageviews work through all the pronunciations of Wilkes-Barre.

Portnoy says Nardone Bros. actually sent him the pizza themselves. That’s a gutsy move. Check out his review of DiGiorno to see what we mean. And he’s actually scoring the frozen pizzas he gets separate from any pizza he tastes out in the real world.

In this review, Portnoy gives a little history on his visit to Old Forge, the self-proclaimed pizza capital of the world. He makes a few Dunder Mifflin/Scranton references. And he reveals that he received a piece of Elsa luggage from a fan in a recent unboxing session.

“I have a mad ass crush on Elsa,” he declares. “Mad ass. And if that’s f’ing wrong, I don’t wanna be right.”

So, when he finally gets down to eating Nardone Bros. pizza.

On the first bite, he starts to brag that he did not “burn his face off” after a rogue chunk of cheese broke away from the unchewed slice. Then, the slice slips and he drops sauce on his finger.

“That’s God keeping me humble. The pizza gods are relentless. Any time you think you’ve got this game beat, the pizza gods will remind you that you’ve got a lot to learn. That’s what that was,” he says.

The reason he dropped the slice of Nardone Bros. pizza (twice) is its lack of a crust.
