A handful of Schuylkill League basketball teams advanced to their respective District XI championship games this weekend with victories on Wednesday.
District XI Basketball Semifinals Recap
Here’s a look at who’s moving on in the District tournament:
Nativity topped Lincoln Leadership in the Class 1A boys tournament. They’ll face Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg, which defeated Tri-Valley in another semifinal game Wednesday.
In Class 3A, Panther Valley upset top-seeded Palmerton to reach that bracket’s final. The Panthers will take on Notre Dame-Green Pond in the finals.
In girls’ competition, three more Schuylkill League teams advanced to a championship game. Another team gets a shot at a consolation and two teams saw their season come to an end.
In Class 2A, Mahanoy Area topped Marian, 43-32. And Moravian Academy defeated Minersville, 68-52, to set up that final.
In Class 4A, Jim Thorpe took care of Tamaqua, 63-45. The Olympians get Bethlehem Catholic in the finals. However, Tamaqua will take on Allentown Central Catholic in a 4A consolation game.
And in Class 5A, Blue Mountain beat Shikellamy to advance to that championship round against Bangor.

- Bangor 29, Southern Lehigh 19
- Blue Mountain 40, Shikellamy 30
