πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Robert Oettl Sr., 86 – US Army Veteran, Avid Hunter and Golfer

Robert A. Oettl, Sr., age 86, of Port Carbon, passed away with his loving family by his side on Thursday, February 20, 2020, at his home.

Born in Pottsville on August 27, 1933, he was the son of the late Anthony and Louise (DePauli) Oettl.

Bob was a graduate of Pottsville Catholic High School, Class of 1951.

He then served in the U.S. Army as a PFC from July 29, 1953 until June 4, 1955.

Bob first worked for Yuengling Brewery in Pottsville and then worked as a business agent and was the President of the Teamster’s Local Union 830 in Philadelphia, PA.

Bob was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in St. Clair, a lifetime member of the American Hose Company No. 2 in Pottsville and a member of the Sunlite Gun Club, where he was a past President.

Bob was an avid hunter and golfer.

Bob is survived by his wife Victoria A. (Palokas) Oettl, Port Carbon; a son Robert A. Oettl Jr. and his wife Jennifer and two granddaughters: Analiese and Lydia Oettl, all of Schuylkill Haven; a brother Richard Oettl, Walnutport; a sister Janet Gould, Pittsburgh; and nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church in St. Clair at 11:30AM on Monday, February 24, with Msgr. William Glosser officiating.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Monday morning from 10-11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment with Military Honors will be held at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Clare of Assisi Church Memorial Fund 250 E. Hancock Street Saint Clair, PA 17970.

The Robert A Evans Jr Funeral Home in Port Carbon is in charge of arrangements.
