Here’s a question with no right answer. So, let’s ask it.
Who’s the Greatest Athlete in Philadelphia Sports History?
You’ve likely seen this image a bunch of times on social media. Not chiming in is impossible. Everyone has their own greatest athlete in Philadelphia sports history.
Lots to pick from above. But a lot of times, someone has an alternative to the people shown on the image.
We think we do, too.
It just goes to show that what makes a “greatest athlete” is in the eye of the beholder. Is it the most physically gifted? What about the person who brought us the most wins? Or what about getting the BIG win?
Again, it’s up to you. No one can tell you you’re wrong. But they will. It’s a fun debate to have.
Here’s who is on the chart above:
- Allen Iverson
- Eric Lindros
- “Dr. J” Julius Erving
- Reggie White
- Bobby Clarke
- Wilt Chamberlain
- Brian Dawkins
- Roy Halladay
- Joe Frazier
- Mike Schmidt
- Donovan McNabb
- Chuck Bednarik
Here are notable snubs:
- Nick Foles
- Randall Cunningham
- Harold Carmichael
- Steve Carlton
- Greg Luzinksi
- Scott Rolen
- Ricky Jordan 😂
- Bernie Parent
- Danny Briere
- Jimmie Foxx
- Charles Barkley
- Moses Malone
- Hal Greer
- Rasheed Wallace
So, who is your pick? Please @ us in the comments below.

Hextall is a good one if you ignore the mediocre goaltending. Just like every superstar, we got Dr. J a little too late but maybe just in the nick of time.
