Guy E. Schreffler passed away at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA on Monday morning, December 30, 2019, after suffering a severe stroke two days prior. Guy was born in October 1931 at his parent’s home in Leck Kill, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel & Irene Schreffler and sister Elva & brothers, Merle, Ervin, Darvin & Delbert and his 2nd wife Helen Oxenrider Hamilton.
Guy is survived by son, Ernest (Diane) of Halifax, daughter, Joyce (Roger) McRae of Montgomery, stepson, Jack (Sue) Hamilton of Port Trevorton, stepdaughter, Connie (Trace) Adams of Elizabethville.
Grandchildren: Steven (Jessica) Schreffler, Brian (Lesley) Romberger, Keith (Alicia) Janson, & Melissa (Chad) Mix.
Step Grandchildren: Kyna Steinmeier, Jack Hamilton, Jr., Justin Hamilton, & Shannon Hamilton
Great Grandchildren: John, Alec, Gavin, Brielle, Avery, Justin, Cameron, Jackson, Zachary, Bentley, Braxton, & Addison.

Guy was employed in many occupations during his lifetime from Farmer, Feed Truck Driver at Stehr Brothers Mill, School Bus Driver for Mahanoy Joint / Line Mountain, Bread Packager at Holsum Bakeries, Mill Operator at Wenger’s Feed, & Wood Worker at Creative Playthings. During his retirement, if you want to call it that, he remained active helping Rothermel Funeral Home with parking and transporting, Digging potatoes for Masser’s Produce, helping unload 1 day old chicks / peeps into their new houses for Jeff Snyder, and assisted other farmers when needed during planting & harvesting. He was also known for his wine making using raw substances like, Dandelion, Clover Blossom, Crown Vetch, Peach, Banana to name just a few.
Guy was also member of the Mahantongo Fire Company in Pitman, PA. He was a past treasurer of the Fire Company and President of the Firemen’s Relief Association. He also drove the Ambulance for many years. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World Chapter #133.
Friends & Family may pay their respects from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, January 6, 2020 at Christ Evangelical & Reformed Church, 5189 Schwaben Creek Rd, Leck Kill, PA. Memorial services will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at St John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, 4330 Schwaben Creek Rd, Leck Kill, PA after the conclusion of memorial services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Christ Evangelical & Reformed Church or the Mahantongo Fire Company.
