Minersville Area School District Election Results 2019

The race for 5 seats among the 6 candidates is too close to call right now. A damaged voting machine from Branch Township could hold votes that tip the balance in this race.

Michael Mistishen leads Sarah Newton by just 11 votes with the one precinct to count.

Albert Mazaras holds the top spot but just 1 more vote than Kevin Wigoda.

Tamaqua Area School District Election Results 2019

One of the most hotly contested races across Schuylkill County on Election Day happened in the Tamaqua Area School District.

District officials debate how to protect the school from a would-be shooting incident (arm teachers or staff or not) as voters headed to the polls. In the end, Republican candidates prevailed. Democrat Liz Pinkey provided the closest challenge in the race. She finished about 500 votes behind 5th place finisher Larry Wittig. Support for Wittig seems to have dropped following his banning by the U.S. Olympic Team due to a decades old sexual misconduct allegation involving a minor.
